Who's using X9 ? I am intrigued by all these high speed tool paths I keep hearing about that allow you to take full advantage of the entire cutter flute and machine speed. I really want to step it up and get the most from it. I have classes bought and paid for at my distributor a few years ago just waiting for me to find the time. We have HAAS lathes and mills as well as a FADAL 40X20 and Proto Trak lathes and Mills That will also change this year as we are about to bring on some additional help in January and I plan to add a mill this year. I could take on a lot more strait milling jobs but have limited talent/machines here and I am already spread pretty thin in the shop. Flats, slots, drilling and tapping.we are always using our 4th axis indexer for these jobs. Most of our turning work has secondary work done in the mills. We do about 60% turning here with the rest being strait mill jobs some requiring 3D surfacing operations. We are currently using X5 though I have X6 loaded and ready I just use X5 My goal for this coming year is to become an expert with it and start to make it pay off. I just decided to get with the program, upgrade to X9 and get back on maintenance. Things got tight a few years ago and I have been off maintenance for awhile. I am 100% self taught and do pretty well with it but know I am not taking close to full advantage of it, I suspect not even close. My shop has using Master Cam since the 90's I only started learning it myself a few years ago.
